THE POWER OF POSSIBILITY

A REAL RACE CAR. REAL-LIFE LEARNING. A DIFFERENT WAY TO START A CONVERSATION.

An interactive school experience using motorsport, hands-on learning and real-life stories to explore resilience, teamwork, problem-solving, career pathways and self-belief.

WHAT IS THE POWER OF POSSIBILITY?

The Power of Possibility takes something students don't normally find in the school grounds — a working circuit race car — and turns it into a hands-on learning experience.

Students are encouraged to look closer, ask questions, explore real components and discover the skills, people and career pathways hidden inside one race car.

They don't need to know anything about motorsport.

CURIOSITY IS ENOUGH.

WHO IS IT FOR?

PRIMARILY DESIGNED FOR YEARS 7–8

The programme has been developed primarily for Years 7–8, at a time when young people are beginning to think more deeply about their identity, confidence, abilities and future.

The experience can also be adapted for Years 5–6 and Years 9–13, with the focus adjusted to suit the age group — from confidence and curiosity through to career pathways, trades, STEM, resilience and preparing for life beyond school. It can also be adapted for women’s events.

YEARS 5–8
Confidence • Curiosity • Resilience

YEARS 9–13
Careers • Pathways • Future Thinking

WHAT HAPPENS?

THIS ISN'T JUST A TALK.

The race car becomes the starting point for an interactive experience.

Students explore the car and real racing components, ask questions, investigate how things work and discover just how many different skills and people it takes to get one car onto a racetrack.

The experience combines hands-on discovery, storytelling, discussion and problem-solving to make the learning relatable and memorable.

WHAT DO STUDENTS EXPLORE?

RESILIENCE

Things don't always go to plan. What matters is what we do next.

TEAMWORK

One race car relies on many different people doing their job.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

Ask questions. Try something. Learn. Adjust. Try again.

SELF-BELIEF

You don't have to already know how before you're allowed to start.

A woman is sitting at a desk, resting her head on her hand, looking thoughtfully upward. There are sketches of a car and mechanical parts, as well as scientific formulas and DNA strands around her. She is wearing a hoodie that says 'Built By Girl,' and there is a helmet and tools on the desk. The background features the words 'Curiosity + STEM' in large, stylized text.

CURIOSITY

Some of the best learning begins with “How does that work?”

CAREER PATHWAYS

One car opens the door to careers students may never have considered.

LEARNING WITH PURPOSE

CONNECTING THE EXPERIENCE BACK TO THE CLASSROOM.

The Power of Possibility isn't designed as a one-off motivational talk.

The themes explored through the race car can connect back into classroom learning and align naturally with areas of the New Zealand Curriculum, while supporting conversations around resilience, teamwork, careers, goal setting, problem-solving and personal development.

Teachers can continue those conversations after the visit using supporting Built By Girl® classroom resources.

A REAL RACE CAR. A REAL-WORLD CLASSROOM.

The Built By Girl® RX-8 is an actively raced circuit car. The challenges experienced on the racetrack — teamwork, preparation, mistakes, mechanical problems and changing conditions — provide real examples that can be brought back into the school experience.

ON THE WEEKEND, IT'S A RACE CAR.

AT SCHOOL, IT'S A CLASSROOM.

AFTER THE CAR LEAVES...

The experience doesn't have to end when the race car drives out of the school gates.

Participating schools can access the Built By Girl® Teacher Resource Library, with classroom activities and supporting resources designed to continue the conversation.

READY TO BRING POSSIBILITY TO YOUR SCHOOL?

EVERY SCHOOL IS DIFFERENT.

Tell us a little about your students, year groups and what you'd like them to take from the experience, and we can talk about how The Power of Possibility could work for your school.
